Why Oxford students choose UniMove instead of self-storage
Traditional self-storage means hiring a van, queueing on Cowley Road, and paying for more cubic feet than you need. UniMove is built for the Oxford academic calendar — we collect from your staircase, gate or porters’ lodge, store securely, and return it on the date you choose.
- No van hire, no friends-with-cars needed
- Porters’ lodge collection by prior arrangement
- Designed around 0th, 8th and 9th week timings
- Suitable for between-tenancy gaps, year abroad, internships and graduation
- Single-item pickup right through to full-room clearance
Frequently asked questions about Oxford student storage
Where can Oxford students store belongings?
UniMove collects from your college room, university hall, shared house or private flat anywhere in Oxford and the surrounding areas, including Cowley, Headington, Jericho, Summertown and Iffley. Your items are stored at our secure UK storage facility — about 30 minutes from central Oxford — and returned when you need them.
Do you collect from college rooms and JCR-organised collection days?
Yes. We work with college porters and JCR/MCR welfare officers to coordinate end-of-term collections. If your college runs a fixed collection window, we can be on site that day; otherwise we book a direct slot with you and meet at the lodge or your staircase.
Can I store items just for the summer or just over a single vac?
Yes — short and long stays both work. Most Oxford bookings cover the long vac (end of Trinity to start of Michaelmas), but we also do Hilary–Trinity, the Easter vac, year abroad, and gap-month storage between an Oxford tenancy and a London graduate move.
How far in advance should I book Oxford collection?
For Trinity end-of-term peak (mid-June onwards) we recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks ahead. For other vacs and term-time moves, a week is normally fine. Get a quote at any time — it’s free.
I’m an international Oxford student flying home — can you help?
Yes — this is one of our most common bookings. We collect on your last day at college, store everything safely, and return it to your new room before Michaelmas (or to a different UK address if you’ve moved). No need to ship boxes overseas.
